Rice Water For Hair Growth?

I love trying a DIY beauty treatment and have been meaning to try the rice water trick since last year. What better time to try out a new beauty hack?

What does rice water do for your hair?

Rice water is the starchy water leftover after rice is cooked or left to soak. It's thought to make hair smoother, shinier and promotes hair growth.
The amino acids and folic acid from the rice water help strengthen and repair damaged hair whilst the magnesium helps stimulate hair growth and healthy cell production.

What do you need?

Rice.
Water.
A bowl.

How often do you need to do this?

Twice a week.

How do you make it?

1. Soak a small cup of rice in some water.
2. Drain the rice out into a pan (you may want to cook the rice after or before to avoid wasting rice).
3. Boil the water.
4. Add some lavender oil and tea tree oil to the water, this will help lighten the smell. If you don't have any to hand, try adding orange skin peels as this will also help.
5. Pour the water into an empty bottle and allow to cool down.

How do you apply it?

1. Shampoo and rinse your hair.
2. Massage the rice water into your hair and onto your scalp. Allow it to sit for 20-30 minutes.
3. Rinse your hair.

  1. I've been using rice water for hair growth for about 2 years now, and I have to say it's made a HUGE difference in the thickness and health of my hair. My hair now grows considerably faster and the strands are so much healthier and thicker....it's like a holy grail product that barely costs a thing!
