Balayage | Before / After

Left: Me Right: my Sister

I have never coloured my hair before, not even highlights or to get rid of those random strands of grey hairs that pop up. I've always had a random weird hair colour which is different shades of brown, but after seeing lots of pictures of balayage, I was keen to get my hair done.

If you follow me on Instagram, last week you would of seen my post where I announced I was going blonde...as if! I went down to Sean Hanna in Putney and got a tone lighter than my natural colour not using any hair dye but a hair oil toner instead. If you're wondering what exactly is balayage, it's basically when you can't see where the colour ends of begins as it's blended in so naturally and beautifully! I picked up a couple of tricks from the hair colourist (check me out on Instagram for my hair colourist's details!) which were:

  • To keep hair curls/waves, simply spray your hair brush with hairspray and then brush though.
  • Always wash your hair twice in the same wash
Are you a balayage kind of girl or ombre?

What's On My Nails

I'm obsessed with painting my nails at the moment, literally I'm at a stage where I'm painting my nails 2-3 times a week. Is this normal? I'm actually obsessed with OPI* and Sally Hansen* lately, as I've been wearing these two brands only for the past 2-3 months.

My favourite colours for AW15 or 'Fall' if you're from the US are blacks, dark burgundy and of course good ol' fierce red. I don't tend to wear nudes this time of year because I much prefer bold statement colours.

Anastasia Beverly Hills | Perfect Brow

I do love a good old Anastasia Beverly Hills purchase. I recently purchased the Perfect Brow Pencil in Medium Brown as my Brow Whiz pencil ran out. Anastasia is the Queen of brows and her products are worth every penny if you're wondering is it worth the price...

The Perfect Brow Pencil slightly differs to the Brow Whiz Pencil as it has a pencil formula whereas the Brow Whiz has a consistency of a gel mixed with pencil. Both are incredibly good and can create the perfect brow no pun intended from near enough nothing. It's amazing how faint the pencil is so it just looks like natural strokes of hair. As you can see from the swatch above, it's a really faint product which doesn't look harsh. I find pencil gives you more control when defining the brows and it just gives you more control on creating the perfect shape for your face.

Trend: Berry Lips

I love mixing lipsticks to create your own lip colours. Sometimes believe it or not, from my hundreds of lipsticks I just can't always find the right tone of red or nude. So the perfect solution is to mix them as long as they are the same formula.

I mixed Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipstick in Glam Plum Fulham and Dark Night Waterl-oops!. Dark Night Waterl-oops is quite purple and Glam Plum Fulham is more of a red although the shade names can be quite misleading. I wanted a dark berry lip of course which is perfect for the season ahead So I decided to mix them. I chose the Moisture Renew range only because the formula is incredibly moisturising and mixes really well. If you want to create an ombre lip, I would definitely recommend this range.

OPI | New Additions to the Collection

Left to Right: Be There in a Prosecco, I Cannoli Wear OPI, The Thrill of Brazil, Tiramisu for Two

If you've been reading my blog for a while, you must know by now when it comes to nails I practically only wear the following colour groups; nudes, reds and darks. I got to try out a few of the newest shades from OPI's Venice Collection* and also one from their previous Brazil collections.

I'm loving these colours for the autumn/winter months ahead. Be There in a Prosecco is from the Venice Collection and is a beautiful cream nude. I Cannoli Wear OPI (love the shade names by the way!) is a lovely light grey shade, and you guys know I LOVE light grey nails. It's very similar to Sally Hansen's Greyfitti but it's slightly lighter which I love. This has to be my favourite out of the Venice Collection. Then there's Tiramisu for Two which is another nude, however this has a pink undertone which looks great on warmer skin tones. I also think if you have long nails, you can really pull this colour off. Last but not least is The Thrill of Brazil which is from OPI's Brazil Collection and of course is a bright classic red. You always need a classic red in your nail collection!

I have a few other new additions to my OPI collection, so follow me on Instagram to see them and don't forget to follow OPI on Instagram here.
